The Fuel Fund provides a fill of home heating oil once a season. This program serves people earning 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and up to 300% if there are special circumstances (like a recent job loss or emergency home repair). For 2019, a single individual at 200% would earn less than $24,980 per year and a family of four would earn less than $51,500 per year. But before you decide if you qualify or not, give us a call.
To apply for fuel assistance, please call the Community Navigator at (207) 633-6272. Please help us avoid emergency call out fees and help make sure no one has to get by for a few days without oil and call to schedule a delivery when you have about 1/4 of a tank remaining.
Families who may need more than one delivery in a season or who already know they will need a fill next season will be required to apply for LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Call KV CAP at 1-800-542-8227 ext. 1500 to set up your appointment. You'll need to bring some paperwork with you (we know, we know, but trust us, it will be worth it!). You can find out what you need by clicking this link. If this is all too confusing, just call Hannah or Kathleen at the Community Navigator and they can help out.
You can also contact the fund administrator Heather Lorraine at (207) 633-4757.
Let's be real - Maine winters are cold! Demand for Fuel Fund is always high and it is life-saving. Please consider joining the "Top It Off Club" by making a donation to the fund every time you receive a fuel delivery. Contact Heather Lorraine for more information - thank you!
